Read this Drive the Change conversation catalyst…
Road fatalities are the top cause of death for children and young adults worldwide. Around 1.35 million people die each year on the world’s roads, and over 20 million are seriously injured. Road crashes are a leading cause of death and injury in Australia.
Crashes are not accidents. Only 7% of road crashes are true ‘accidents’ in which the driver could have done nothing to prevent them. Human error is a factor in over 90% of crashes. People are making the ‘Fatal Five’ choices to kill and injure themselves and others:
- Speeding
- Alcohol & Drug Driving
- Distraction
- Fatigue
- not wearing Seatbelts.
Changing the choices people make is about changing the culture in which those choices are made. The best way to change a culture is through everyday conversations with family, friends and those around us.
