OK… it is NOT one of the big challenges facing humanity. That said… the use of leaf blowers offers an opportunity to look at aspects of many challenges facing humanity…
- ‘not-my-problem’ e.g. why do people believe it’s OK to blow their leaves and other matter onto others and/or public property?
- ‘consequences’ e.g. where do people think the leaves and other matter go? Are they aware leaves and grass cuttings left on roads and in gutters have an affect on water quality?
- ‘responsibility’ e.g. if an object blown onto a road from their property were to flick up and injure a pedestrian would people take responsibility?
- ‘alternatives’ e.g. why don’t people use a rake, collect the leaves and other matter and put it in their recycling bin and/or compost?
Each conversation has a maximum of 8 participants. A safe and respectful space is held by a skilled facilitator.
