Artist Statements

Art and Artist Statements start conversations

Conversations are way less about the art and way more about the Artist Statement. Just think about Duchamp and ‘Urinal’… Warhol and ‘Campbell’s Soup Cans’… Banksy and ‘Love is in the Bin’… Cattelan and ‘Comedian’. The conversations were all about the artist statements.

So given we are all about conversations, we are all about Artist Statements. The intention of our Artist Statements is to…

  1. focus way LESS on the artwork and way MORE on the Artist Statement
  2. start conversations
  3. generate substantial profit each time an Artist Statement is sold

How Artist Statements work…
  • an artist pitches an idea for an artwork (less important) and Artist Statement (most important) to Evolvelove
  • following Evolvelove approval, and payment of $250, the Artist Statement is registered on the Evolvelove Artist Statement register and given a unique Artist Statement Webpage
  • the owner is encouraged to display their Artist Statement somewhere prominent so it starts conversations
  • the owner is encouraged to share stories associated with the Artist Statement on the unique Artist Statement Webpage
  • the owner is encouraged to sell their Artist Statement for a profit

NOTE: Artist Statements are a little like NFT’s. The difference being proof of ownership is kept on the unique Artist Statement Webpage rather than a blockchain.

Selling an Artist Statement

The seller and buyer have a conversation regarding the terms of sale e.g.

  • the sale price
  • if the sale price is greater than the purchase price, the seller gets back their purchase price NOTE: Artist Statements are like any commodity in any market i.e. the value will be determined by ‘market forces’. As such, an Artist Statement may not increase in value. If an Artist Statement is sold for less than the purchase price, any loss is born by the seller.
  • profit is distributed as agreed, keeping in mind:
    • a minimum of 25% of the profit is donated to the Artist
    • a minimum of 50% of the profit is donated to Evolvelove
    • a maximum of 15% of the profit can be given to the seller
  • the seller notifies Evolvelove of the terms of sale, and once approved, the transactions take place and the buyer is added to the Artist Statement Webpage.

Example:
Sam creates an Artist Statement for $250 and markets it for $5000.
Sam and Alex agree:
     * on a sale price of $4,500
     * Sam gets back their $250 purchase price
     * the profit is $4,250
     * the profit is distributed according to:
          – 40% to Artist i.e. $1,700
          – 50% to Evolvelove i.e. $2,125
          – 10% goes to the seller i.e. $425
